Dr. Lisa Jervis grew up in the Los Angeles area. In addition to basking in the sun (without adequate protection), she spent large amounts of time playing sports, music and drawing. At the age of 12, during her first (and only) televised interview while competing on the Sandlot Superstars, she eagerly announced her career aspirations of being a dental hygienist. In her junior year of high school, after postponing biology as long as she could, she became enamored with science, thus the “birth” of her actual career choice.
She headed to northern California where she studied Biological Sciences at the University of California at Davis. Although being tempted to study winemaking instead, she remained on her path and was accepted into medical school.
On to the ugly and everlasting winters of the Midwest for eight years, she received an Air Force Scholarship to support her through medical school at St. Louis University School of Medicine. She ventured slightly further east to perform her residency at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. She completed her Air Force commitment in San Antonio, Texas and Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
She and her husband, Wheeler, a Pulmonary/Critical Care Specialist, have lived in Charlotte since 1999. They have two active daughters. Dr. Jervis enjoys running and educating women about their health.
